Jeans with Parka

Parka are difficult to get hold of these days, and with good reason. When Cologne’s great Indie hopes aren’t polishing up the songs for their new album, the three musicians are mostly like to be found not in their favourite bar, but between sewing machines and bolts of fabric in the design workshop of Mönchengladbach-based jeans tailors ADenim Germany. Parka and Jeans? Wasn’t there something else? Oh yes – mod and mode, student revolts and Hamburger Schule! Fashion – music – politics, and the perfectly coordinated olive/blue team always up front. At this point, it’s only logical to ask where the band’s name came from. So why Parka? “We felt it was right for us. Parka – it sounds good, looks good, and over the years it has made an exciting shift from an army garment to a fashion item with a revolutionary attitude,” explains singer Fly. Now Parka and ADenim Germany are reuniting two articles which simply belong together – and not only in pop culture. The first product of this partnership, which is already turning out to be very fruitful, is a jeans edition limited to just 100 items. These loosely cut pièces de résistance de la mode are available in trendy grunge look and were extensively finished by hand using old army parka fabrics. With double labels and elaborately packed in a specially designed package, these one-of-a-kind jeans will be available exclusively from the ADenim webshop from July 1, 2014 and will cost 259 Euro each. Founded in Cologne in 2007, the band has now performed on hundreds of stages and released three EPs, one album and a spectacular live DVD with a symphonic wind orchestra and a 25 strong drum orchestra put together especially for the occasion. Now the long-awaited second LP is finally to be released at the end of the year.
