Spurred on by success

ALBERTO picking up speed with women’s collection

ALBERTO woman? ALBERTO woman! Surprise? No, not really. At least, not for observant watchers of fashion market trends. By the time of the sensational launch of ALBERTO’s Golfwoman collection, the call for a pants collection had become impossible to ignore. And now its ready, just in time for the start of the 2014 Spring/Summer collection: the Mönchengladbach-based pants specialist has given in to market pressure and is launching its first women’s collection.

Denims in new shapes and washes which fit perfectly and exude lots of sex appeal. This is ALBERTO woman. The first, ambitious women’s line from the Mönchengladbach pants tailors comprises six denim and PPT models which will appeal to style-conscious, cosmopolitan women aged 25 and up who are looking for the perfect jeans.

For years, ALBERTO has been asked again and again when there is finally going to be a collection for women. For a long time, the Mönchengladbach company always gave a friendly but determined refusal. “We’ve been making pants since 1922. Pants for men,” explains Marco Lanowy, partner and managing director at ALBERTO. “We have always seen the men’s fashion market as our domain.“ Yet the enquiries about a women’s collection became more and more frequent. “About two years ago, we decided that we couldn’t ignore this demand any more.“ As a result, ALBERTO took its first steps in the women’s market with a golfwear collection for women. With great success. “The test collection alone was an absolute hit,” Lanowy is gratified to remember. No wonder that the company now also wants to enter the women’s denim market. “The prospects for our launch are good, as the demand for a women’s line was induced by our customers. And this is unusual these days,” says marketing strategist Lanowy. The Mönchengladbach-based company has been working on a women’s outerwear collection for over a year. It will be ready for the Spring/Summer season, when ALBERTO woman enters the test phase. ALBERTO is modest: “We’ve done our homework, but we are of course still right at the beginning. If ALBERTO woman gets anything like the positive response we had with our Golfwoman collection, we will continue expanding our women’s outerwear line in the future,” is Marco Lanowy’s prediction. The new women’s denim designs are the brainchild of Anna Walendy, who as the product manager of the women’s line has already helped get ALBERTO Golfwoman off to a magnificent start.

ALBERTO woman will be distributed exclusively via fashionsisters.de for at least two seasons starting in January 2014. ALBERTO wants to take plenty of time for this test phase. The Rhenish company deliberately decided to use DePauli AG’s fashion platform as the two companies have established a trustful, long-standing partnership. Also because DePauli has already been successfully selling the ALBERTO and ALBERTO Golf lines for many years.

Prices for the ALBERTO woman collection range from 89 Euro to 159 Euro.
